What is Roller Cone Bit Features
IADC 6 SERIES DRILL BITS
These bits are used to drill high-compressive strength, medium hard formations. A small amount of cone offset and low insert projection is used to prevent cutting structure damage when hard streaks are encountered. Increased numbers of blunter, smaller diameter inserts are used to increase life in harder, more abrasive formations.
IADC 7 SERIES DRILL BITS
These bits are used to drill hard and abrasive formations. A more wear-resistant grade of tungsten carbide insert is used to prevent wear. Low cone offset with increased numbers of breakage resistant cutters add to the required bit durability.
Roller Cone Bit is an ideal solution for soft, medium, or hard rock formations, it is connected with the drill stem and rotates along with it, and drive cones to pressed on the rock. Each cone rotates round the axis of its leg and three cones simultaneously revolve around the bit center. The tungsten carbide inserts on the cone shell cause the formation to spall under the weight on bit and the impact load of cone rotating, the debris will be discharged out to hole by compression air. Tricone bits come in several different varieties, and can deal with a wide range of different rock formations. It is important to know the type of formation you are drilling in when selecting a drill bit.

Application
Tricone drill bit is one of the main tools for blast hole and well drilling, mainly used for large-scale open-pit mining, such as open-pit coal mines, iron mines, copper mines and molybdenum mines, also the non-metallic mines. The rock breakage by the tricone bit which used in mine is working with both the impact of teeth and the shear caused by slippage of the teeth, which bring high rock breaking efficiency and the low operation cost.
